Cove Clean-up 2011 Great Sucess

Thanks to all the friends and neighbors who helped out. Together we removed a lot of trash, glass, plastic, cups, straws, bags, and other junk out of the marsh and off the beach. Plus a tire or two and sadly some burnt remains of the Edgewood Yacht Club.

Mayor Fung, Senator Miller, Representative Handy, and Councilman Stycos all stopped by to check out the progress.  Their continued support for the Cove help make this a treasured neighborhood resource.

One of the nearby cub scout troops cam out to help too.  Mayor Fung presented them with badges for their hard work.

2010 Annual Meeting - UPDATED WITH PLANS!!
The discussions got started on a potential landscape plan for the park area of Stillhouse Cove. Please check back on this site soon, we hope to have the plan posted as soon as we receive the electronic version. Comments can be sent to both Peter Lapolla, Cranston City Planning Director at plapolla@cranstonri.org, and Barbara Rubine, Co-Chair of EWPA, at brubine@verizon.net.

We're a low-tech operation, and this site makes it difficult to post documents, so we've tried to use "scribd" to post copies of the images and the description of the plan below (if you can't see the images, try to copy and paste the links. Also, if you can see the images but they're small, try to click on the "full screen" links).

Annual Meeting

Please come to Hall library on Monday, September 14th, at 7 pm, to hear what's happening in the Cove, plans for the upper bay, and to share your thoughts with neighbors and local elected officials. We hope to see you there!

The Cove Clean up was a great success, as many neighbors came down and got into the marsh. We pulled out trash, branches, and other debris. Now, as families stroll down Narragansett Blvd and look out into the Bay, they will see a vibrant marsh full of diverse plants, ducks, swans, gulls, and other birds... and hopefully very little garbage! Thanks to all who helped out.

Phase 2 of the restoration of the Cove kicked of in April. Mayor Fung, Senator Miller, Councilman Livingston, and committed staffers of the municipal, state, and federal oversight agencies, joined EWPA and interested neighbors as the work began.
